1. Why did you choose the destination you chose?
Tesia: I recently visited Singapore, Indonesia and Malaysia. I went with a friend to celebrate her 30th birthday and of course, I had never visited any of these countries. So that was a bonus too!
2. What is one new thing you tried or did that you never have before ( a food, and experience)?
Tesia: During my trip we went on a sunrise hike to the top of Mount Batur in Bali. We got up around 1:30am to drive to the base of the mountain. The hike took about two hours and it was a little over 4 miles round trip. It’s was difficult to say the least but the sunrise made the strenuous trek worth it.
3. What did you enjoy the most?
Tesia: What I enjoyed most about all of these destinations were our visits to the local temples. We had the privilege of being a part of very intimate moments as we witnessed people give offerings and pray — both common traditions in Asian culture.
4. Top 3 things you would recommend others to bring with them?
Tesia: Make sure to bring plenty of bug spray — the mosquitos are plentiful and take no prisoners. Pack light and with intention — more than likely you’ll be moving around a lot as you travel around the countries. The less you have to tote around, the better your experience. Bring a positive and flexible attitude — there’s so much to do and see, you may even wander upon something that you hadn’t planned on. And it may just become the best thing about your travel adventures.
5. What did you take away from this trip?
Tesia: Out of all of the countries we visited, I knew the least about Malaysia. However, it was the most diverse and culturally rich out of the other countries. It’s true — when you expect nothing, you gain everything. Malaysia was an unforgettable experience and I can’t wait to visit again!
